The Apostle Paul wrote, "But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son" (Galatians 4:4).
Have you ever wondered what "The Fullness of Time" means? It suggests that time is not just a sequence of random events. It is like a vessel being filled or a harvest being grown. There is a specific "Ratio of Readiness" that must be met before a breakthrough can happen.
In Lesson 17.2, we learned that growth is continuous—it flows like a river. But how do we measure the Depth of that river? How do we know when the "vessel" is full?
To answer this, we need a mathematical tool that can look at the Life (e) and reveal the Time (t). That tool is the Natural Logarithm ($\ln$).
If $e$ is the "Signature of Life," then $ln$ is the "Signature of Time." They are perfect inverses.
While $e^x$ takes a small amount of time and turns it into a massive harvest...
$\ln(y)$ takes a massive harvest and tells you exactly how much time it took to grow.
In the Kingdom, we are called to be Stewardship Detectives. We look at the "Fullness" around us and we "un-grow" the equation to find the roots of faithfulness.
Imagine you have an equation where the "Time" you are looking for is trapped in the ceiling (the exponent):
The $t$ is high up, guarded by the power of $e$. You cannot reach it with addition, subtraction, or even regular division. You need the Natural Log.
When you apply $\ln$ to $e$, it's like a key turning in a lock. The $e$ vanishes, and the $0.10t$ drops down to the ground floor where you can solve it.
The Revelation: By using the Natural Log, we have "Numbered our days." We have found the "Fullness of Time."
There is a specific "Beat" to all life. In math, we call it the Doubling Time.
How long does it take for a heart to double its influence? Or for a church to double its members?
If the growth is continuous, the answer is always hidden in a single number: $\ln(2) \approx 0.693$.
To find how long it takes to double, you just divide $0.693$ by your growth rate ($r$).
The Lesson: If you want to reach the harvest twice as fast, you don't need "twice as much" work; you need to increase your Rate of Continuous Faithfulness.
What is the Natural Log of 1?
$\ln(1) = 0$.
This is a profound truth. In the PERT formula, $e^0 = 1$. This means that at "Time Zero," you have exactly what you started with ($A = P$).
Before you can have a "Logarithm" (a count of time), you must first have Growth. If you are stagnant ($A = P$), your time in the Spirit is standing still. The Natural Log only speaks to those who are Alive and Moving.
As we saw in Edition 17, Carbon-14 decays at a perfect rate. Scientists use the Natural Log to find out how old an ancient bone or scroll is.
By using the $\ln$ button, we are essentially "listening" to the clock that God built into the atoms. We are unveiling the time of the past using the math of the present.
"I will not be anxious about the 'When' of God's promises. I will trust in the Rhythm of Creation and the Fullness of Time. I will use the Natural Log to number my days with wisdom, and I will keep my heart in the 'Continuous Flow' of the Vine, knowing that every 'Double' and every 'Harvest' is set by the Father's perfect hand."
The discovery of the natural logarithm by John Napier and its subsequent refinement by Leonhard Euler is one of the most significant events in the history of science. It provided the "Missing Link" between the exponential world of growth and the linear world of human measurement. Without $ln$, we could observe growth, but we could never predict it with precision. We would be like sailors who can see the wind but cannot read the compass. The Natural Log is the compass of time. It allows us to orient ourselves within the "J-Curve" of the Kingdom, understanding whether we are in the slow "Base" or the rapid "Ascent."
The mathematical relationship between $e$ and $ln$ is a beautiful example of "Echad" (Unity). They are not just two different operations; they are the same truth seen from two different sides. $e$ is the "Outward Expression" (Life), and $ln$ is the "Inward Reflection" (Time). You cannot have one without the other. This mirrors the relationship between Faith and Patience. Faith is the $e$—it is the power that produces the result. Patience is the $ln$—it is the logic that endures the time. Together, they form the complete equation of the saint's walk.
Finally, the "Doubling Time" concept ($\\ln 2$) is a powerful tool for community leadership. In any organization, understanding the "Rhythm of the Double" is the key to scaling. If a mentor knows that their "rate of formation" ($r$) leads to a doubling of disciples every 3 years, they can map out the next 30 years of the movement. This is not "fortune telling"; it is "Prophetic Modeling." It is taking the laws that God built into the leaven and the mustard seed and applying them to the Great Commission. We are calculating the "Abundance" of the future using the "Ratios" of the present.
